Best Seasons for Makalu Base Camp Trekking:
Best times from April to May with September to November months, where most days are clear for mountain views cold in the morning and night times as well in shades.
September to November during autumn or fall most days are fine and clear for breathtaking views of peaks and landscapes, but with short sunlight hours where temperatures can drop to freezing cold with chances of snow sometimes.

high ridges of Kongma-la and Shipton la to enter beautiful Barun valley.Within Barun valley area full of lush vegetation where rare herbs and plants Almost extinct in this world are found in this high and scenic places of eastern Himalaya and then walk with overloaded views of peaks to reach at Makalu base Camp our ultimate destinations. 

Makalu Base Camp Trekking begins with swift short and scenic flight to land at low warm areas of Arun valley at Tumlingtar, an agricultural rich place with nice 
town and villages an interesting country to observe the cultural life of eastern Nepalese.

From Tumlingtar journey heads towards mid hills at Num village where our Adventure starts with down and ups to reach the last final village of the area at Tashi-Gaon inhabited with Sherpa people of Buddhism religion.

Tashi Gaon a nice spread-out farm villages growing crops of millets, corns and vegetables, from here climb leads into dense green coniferous forest to reach at 
Kongma ridge a high hill and pass to enter into beautiful Barun Valley and then at Makalu base camp.

At Makalu base camp enjoy marvelous moments with grand views of Baruntse, Chamling Himal includes rare views known as Khansung Eastern Face of Mt. 
Everest seldom seen from few places, after a great adventure and experience back to Tumingtar taking the same scenic route.

In Tumlingtar with last and final stop around Eastern areas of Nepal where short scenic flight brings you at hustle and bustle city life in Kathmandu after a grand

Day 01:    Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:    In Kathmandu with tour around world heritage sites 
Day 03:    Fly to Tumlingtar 745 m and drive to Num 1,520 m - 04 hrs. 
Day 04:     Trek to Seduwa 1,493 m - 05 hrs. 
Day 05:     Trek to Tashi-Gaon 2,100 m- 04 hrs.

Day 20:    Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Day 01:    Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On landing at Kathmandu and Nepal international airport received by Himalayan Asuka guide and staff for short drive to your hotel in the centre of Kathmandu city, at the hotel our guide / leader provides briefing on Makalu base camp treks with full information required to make your time in Nepal enjoyable with us.

Day 02:    In Kathmandu with tour around world heritage sites.

A day in Kathmandu to relax after a jet leg of previous day, interested people can join in for interesting tour.
Kathmandu is full of historical and famous religious place listed in world heritage sites, rest of the afternoon free and preparation for Makalu base camp trek.

Day 03:    Fly to Tumlingtar 745 m and drive to Num 1,520 m - 04 hrs. 

Makalu base camp trek starts with first morning flight to land at Tumlingtar located Nepal Far East around low, warm sub-tropic areas of Arun Valley and in the district of Sanka-Sauva within Makalu zone.
With time at Tumlingtar to get organized where exciting drive takes you past farm villages, towns and witness Nepal rural and traditional farm life, journey continues towards high hills to cooler areas at Num village for overnight with views of Makalu and Baruntse peaks.

Day 04:         Trek to Seduwa 1,493 m - 05 hrs. 

First day walk begins with fresh morning to downhill to a river gorge and cross a bridge above Arun River, with uphill to Seduwa village, as walk takes you past Runmura farm village and with gradual climb to reach at Seduwa village for overnight stop and camping.

Day 05:         Trek to Tashi-Gaon 2,100 m- 04 hrs.

From Seduwa village, today a short walk on winding up to Tashi-Gaon a moderate size farm village populated by Sherpa community.
Tashi Gaon the last village on route Makalu base camp, as route leads around farm areas and then at Tashi-Gaon for lunch and overnight camp, here with time to explore around village and witness Sherpa culture of age-old traditional life. 

Day 06:         Trek Khoma Danda 3,500 m/11,482 ft- 05 hrs. 

After a pleasant overnight at Tashi-Gaon morning leads far and away from human villages, as route leads on gradual path within forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines trees past several cattle herder’s shelters and shades.
Walking for few hours on good moderate trail and climb for few hours to reach at Khoma ridge, where trees drops to small rhododendron and juniper bushes. 
Overnight camp facing views of Mt. Kanchenjunga with Mt. Makalu and adjoining peaks.

Day 07:         Trek to Mumbuk 3,400 m- 06 hrs.

From Khoma heading into complete wilderness as walk follows a ridge line with ups and down to reach glacial ponds Thulo Pokhari (large) and Sano Pokhari (small), then cross Tutu-la and Shipton la at 4, 453 m high, and on downhill heading back to forested area to reach our overnight camp at Mumbuk.

Day 08:         Trek to Nehe Kharka 3,750 m- 06 hrs. 

Morning down to Barun valley, within scenic area famous for rare species of vegetation- plants which is almost extinct in the world, where medicinal herbs are found with rare and endangered animals often spotted around.
On reaching Barun valley walk facing views of peaks on both sides of the valley, encountering several Yak herder shelters with small Buddhist Gompa (monastery), after a nice good walk reaching overnight camp at Nehe Kharka within scenic Barun valley.

Day 09:         Trek to Yangle Kharka 4,410 m- 05 hrs.

From Barun valley trek to Yangle Kharka near to Shersong situated at the end of Barun valley and close to Makalu base camp, as walk head with slow climb uphill to cross several streams with views of Mt. Makalu and Baruntse peaks, after a good day walk reach at Yang-le Kharka for overnight stop. 

Day 10:         Trek to Shersong 4, 572 m - 05 hrs.

After Yang-le Kharka journey of short distance to reach at Shersong with last surviving green vegetation of small bush and shrubs, walk follows gradual uphill path to cross a stream few times and then finally day journey ends on reaching at  Shersong a mere distance from Makalu Base Camp.

Day 11:         Trek to Makalu Base Camp 4,870 m / 15,978 ft - 04 hrs. 

Morning adventure leads to our main highlight at Makalu Base Camp, as climb leads on high ridge of moraine and ice with rocky section to reach at Makalu base camp, within close to glacial icy pond of Baruntse Himal.
Our overnight stops beneath towering South Face of Mt. Makalu, with time to explore and enjoy views of surrounding high peaks.

Day 12:         Explore Makalu Base Camp. 

Rest day at Makalu base camp with views of Mt. Makalu, Baruntse Himal and peak IV, optional hike to scenic view points for great mountain panorama as well for views of Everest and Lhotse its rare East Face famously known as the Kang-shung face of Mt. Everest. 

Day 13:         Trek to Yangle Kharka - 06 hrs. 

From Makalu base camp retrace the journey back to lower area of Barun valley towards Yangle Kharka for overnight stop enclosed within high rocky cliffs, facing cascading waterfalls.

Day 14:         Trek to Mumbuk 3,400 m- 06 hrs.

After great time around beautiful Barun valley, walk leads to the end of Barun valley and then climb reaches you back into forest at Mumbuk for overnight camp.

Day 15:         Trek to Khoma Danda - 05 hrs.

Morning back on same scenic trail to Khonma ridge, starts with climb for an hour into forest areas to reach a high ridge on leaving tree lines, walk leads past glacial ponds and over Tutu la and Shipton la to reach at high Khoma for overnight stop.

Day 16:         Trek to Tashi-Gaon - 05 hrs. 

From here onward our high altitude adventure ends as morning route leads to long descend into forest and then reaching at Tashi Gaon, with free afternoon for walks around Nawa or Narbu Gaon village to explore more of Sherpa farm village.

Day 17:         Trek to Seduwa 1,493 m - 05 hrs. 

Morning walk follows to Seduwa village on a pleasant trail taking time to observe local village farm life as day completes reaching at Seduwa for overnight stop.

Day 18:         Trek to Num - 05 hrs.

Last day walk of the adventure heads to long descend on steep path into a deep gorge above Arun River, crossing over a bridge with last steep climb to Num village for overnight stop around high hills of eastern Himalaya.

Day 19:     Drive back to Tumlingtar - 04 hrs.

Morning an interesting drive takes you up at Chinchela village and then long descend to reach low warm area at Khandbari, headquarter town of Sanka-Sava district of Makalu region.
From here short downhill drive to reach Tumlingtar for last overnight around Nepal Far Eastern region and within Makalu area.

Day 20:    Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

After a great adventure around high Barun Valley and at Makalu base camp short walk to Tumlingtar air-strip, then board in a aircraft for scenic short flight to Kathmandu, on landing at Kathmandu airport transfer back to your respective hotels.

Day 21:    Spare and Contingency day in Kathmandu.

We reserve an extra day in Kathmandu to adjust our standard itinerary days flexible as contingency in case of flight delay and cancellation at Tumlingtar or in the beginning.
Sometimes weather can be bad and unfavorable to operate flight around mountainous area, if all goes well according to our itinerary day using this day for individual activities or join in for another interesting tour.

Day 22:    International Departure Homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal and high Himalaya an amazing country of varied interesting cultures, depart from the hotel as time for your international flight homeward bound, or to next respective destinations, after enjoying marvelous and grand time in Nepal with great adventure on Makalu Base Camp Trekking.
