Mount Lhakpa Rii Expedition

Trip Overview

This is one of the best programs for the climbers looking for an easy and +7000 meter peak in Himalaya. This program starts from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. From Kathmandu we fly to Lhasa where we will spend 3 nights visiting the main sanctuaries of Lhasa. From Lhasa we head toward Mt. Everest Base Camp crossing some high passes, which also helps us to get well acclimatized. En route Everest BC we’ll visit the major towns of Gyantse and Xigatse.

On arrival, we’ll take 2 days rest time in Everest base Camp and then head toward the first camp of Mount Everest 5,460m., which takes about 3 hours. In the second day we set the 2nd Camp at an elevation of 6,088m. On the 3rd we set the advanced base camp or the base to summit the Mount Lhakpari, in an elevation of 6,368m beneath the north col. Mount Lhakpari, first climbed by Tilman during the 1936 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition, is an easy 7,000m peak.

From Camp 3 we’ll make an acclimatizing day trip to Rabula, from where we’ll get to enjoy a fine view of mount Makalu and Kangsung face. In general we will have 7 days climbing period; 2 day complete rest time, 2 days acclimatizing trip to Rabula and 3 days summit time. If the weather is fine then it takes just 10 hours time to make a successful accent and descend from and to camp three. Second chance will be given to them who fail to make the summit on the first Phase of climbing.

After the summit of Mount Lhakpari, we descend to Camp 2 and then to Base camp in 2 days. From Everest base camp we head toward Nyalam by road visiting Old Tingri and several small settlements of Tibetans and Nomads with herds of yaks and sheep.We make the last night stop at Tibetan land in Nyalam and next day we exit from Tibet via Dzangmu and enter to Nepal.
